Come join us in
Playa del Carmen at the Sandos Caracol Beach Resort & Spa
with Rowdy Yates the host of Country Gold a syndicated
radio show that airs on Saturday nights in over 100
cities nationwide. Rowdy will play host to two of
Country’s finest artists, Johnny Lee and Janie Fricke.
In
1968, Johnny Lee began a 10-year working relationship
with Mickey Gilley, both on the road and at Gilley's
nightclub in Pasadena, Texas. Lee charted his first
single in 1975 with "Sometimes." Success followed
with "Red Sails in the Sunset" and "Country Party," the
latter adding new lyrics to Rick Nelson's pop hit, "Garden
Party. His 1980 single, "Lookin' for Love," spent
three weeks at the top of the Billboard country singles
chart. He followed up "Lookin' for Love" with "One
in a Million," which spent two weeks at No. 1. He
scored three more No. 1 singles -- "Bet Your Heart
on Me," "The Yellow Rose and "You Could've Heard
a Heart Break." His string of Top 10 hits continued
with "Pickin' Up Strangers," "Prisoner of Hope," "Be
There for Me Baby," "Cherokee Fiddle," "Sounds Like
Love," "Hey Bartender" and "Rollin' Lonely." Johnny
is still writing, still performing and still Lookin’ for
Love. Johnny is keeping busy as he can. Writing a
new cookbook called “Chef Boy “R” Lee”, loaded with
funny stories and good recipes, and working hard
on the release of his own food lines. Johnny is a
work in progress!
The
music industry took notice of Janie as her voice
was heard on duets with Merle Haggard, Moe Bandy
and others, leading her to her first major recording
contract. Fricke soon began to dominate the country
charts with smash hits such as Don't Worry ' Bout
Me Baby, He's a Heartache, You're Heart's Not In
It, It Ain’t Easy being Easy, Down To My Last Broken
Heart, Do Me With Love and I’ll Need Someone to Hold
Me When I Cry. It was only a matter of time before
she started winning awards. Included among them are:
Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the
Year, Music City News Female Vocalist of the Year, "Billboard" Top
Country Female Vocalist, "Cash Bed' Top Country Female
Vocalist, Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist
of the Year, and she was chosen to the Country Music
Hall of Fame Walkway of Stars. She has released 23
albums and 36 hit singles. When she relaxes she spends
time with her husband Jeff and her animals. She attends
church near her home, remembering from childhood
the importance of her confirmation. Thankful for
her blessings, Janie feels these values have helped
her become the woman she is today. From an Indiana
farm girl to an internationally acclaimed recording
artist, she has never lost the pure heart and love
of music that launched her career. And today, Janie
Fricke sings on.
So, be sure to make your reservation
now so that you won’t miss Rowdy’s party in Playa
with Johnny & Janie.
